Macro Photography

Explore and photograph the hidden world of small.

Overview:

Macro photography is the process of creating extreme close-up images, capturing small items in larger-than-life detail. Imagine dewdrops on a rose petal or the individual barbs of a bird’s feathers.

What to expect:

During our workshops, you will use your camera + special equipment (provided by us) to enlarge the smallest items and make unbelievable photos of everyday objects. By receiving step-by-step guidance, you’ll learn how to create your own macro images at home.

We also offer occasional themed classes which are appropriate for beginners. Despite the theme, each class begins with the basic how-to’s and introduction to optimal camera settings. These are great classes for any skill level.

Recommended Prerequisites:

What to Bring:

  • Camera with manual mode controls (DSLR, Mirrorless, etc.)

  • Tripod (Min. 24” Height).

  • Notepad and pen/pencil.

  • *Note that you do not need to own a macro lens; We provide students with the correct lenses and/or adaptors for class. Students should bring their standard lenses and any other lenses they own to learn about their macro capabilities.

Need a camera or tripod? We offer rentals here.
